Buddug is the Welsh form of Boudicca — from the Celtic boudig (victorious). Buddug-Boudicca (c. 30-61 CE) was the legendary queen of the Iceni who led the great uprising against Roman occupation in 60-61 CE.
Tennyson's poem "Boadicea" and a statue near Westminster Bridge honor her memory.
Buddug reduces to eight — the number of Welsh victory.
