Eliana comes from the Hebrew Eliyana (אֱלִיעָנָה), composed of El (God) and anah (to answer) — meaning "my God has answered me" or "God has responded." It is a contemporary Hebrew name, used in Israel since the mid-twentieth century.
Eliana entered the U.S. top 1000 in the 1990s and has been rising steadily since. It now sits in the U.S. top 75. The flowing four-syllable shape, the soft -ana ending, and the directly meaningful etymology have made it one of the most successful modern Hebrew exports.
Eliana reduces to one — the number of originality and singular purpose.
