Gujri is the Punjabi name from the Gujjar community. **Mata Gujri (1624-1705)** was the **mother of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru**. After the martyrdom of her husband Guru Tegh Bahadur, she raised her son to lead the Sikh community. **She and her two youngest grandsons were martyred at Fatehgarh Sahib in 1705** — one of the foundational stories of Sikh courage.
Among the most revered Sikh women in tradition.
Gujri reduces to five — the number of Sikh foremother.
