Hasina (حسينة) is the Arabic feminine of hasan (beautiful, good). **Sheikh Hasina (born 1947)** was Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 1996-2001 and again from 2009-2024 — **the longest-serving female head of government in world history** (over 20 years). **Daughter of Bangladesh's founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman** (who was assassinated with most of her family in 1975 while she was abroad). Her government oversaw substantial economic growth before her dramatic ouster in August 2024.
Subject of numerous biographies of Bangladeshi political history.
Hasina reduces to three — the number of Bangladesh's PM.
