Khandro (མཁའ་འགྲོ) combines the Tibetan kha (sky) and dro (to walk) — "sky-walker" — the Tibetan rendering of the Sanskrit **dakini**, the female embodiment of enlightened wisdom in Vajrayana Buddhism. **A title given to the highest female tulkus and spiritual teachers in Tibetan tradition.**
Used widely in the Tibetan-Buddhist world.
Khandro reduces to six — the number of Tibetan dakini.
