Makeda is the Ethiopian tradition's name for the Queen of Sheba — the biblical queen who visited King Solomon (1 Kings 10). According to Ethiopian tradition, she bore Solomon a son, Menelik I, who founded the Solomonic dynasty of Ethiopia that lasted until 1974.
