Pauli is a diminutive of Paul — from Latin paulus ("small, humble"). **Pauli Murray (1910-1985)** was the **African-American lawyer, poet, civil rights activist, and the first Black person ordained an Episcopal priest** (and the first Black woman). **Her legal scholarship influenced Thurgood Marshall's Brown v. Board strategy** and **Ruth Bader Ginsburg credited her as a co-author** of the brief that established sex discrimination as constitutional violation. **Coined the term "Jane Crow."**
Posthumously recognized as a saint by the Episcopal Church.
Pauli reduces to eight — the number of Jane Crow coiner.
