Plectrude (c. 650-c. 718) combines the Old German blank (white, shining) and trūt (strong). The Frankish noblewoman and **wife of Pepin II of Herstal** — after his death she briefly ruled the kingdom and clashed with her stepson Charles Martel, Charlemagne's grandfather.
