Saraswati (सरस्वती) means "the flowing one" in Sanskrit — from saras (flow). She is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom, and learning.
Saraswati is celebrated annually on Vasant Panchami. Students traditionally place books at her feet for her blessing.
