Steinunn combines the Old Norse steinn (stone) and unn (loving). **Steinunn Refsdóttir (c. 950-c. 1010)** was the Icelandic skaldic poet who, when the Christian missionary Þangbrandr came to Iceland, **composed scornful pagan verses against him**, claiming Thor had crashed his ship. Among the earliest named female poets of the Norse world.
