Theodelinda combines the Old German theod (people) and lind (serpent, soft) — "people's serpent" or "of the people, gentle." Queen Theodelinda (c. 570-628) was the Bavarian-born Queen of the Lombards who converted her people to Catholicism — corresponded with Pope Gregory the Great.
Her famous Iron Crown of Lombardy is preserved in Monza.
Theodelinda reduces to six — the number of Lombard queen.
