Balthild combines the Old German bald (bold) and hild (battle). **Saint Balthild (c. 626-680)** was the **Anglo-Saxon slave girl who became Queen of the Franks** — sold to the court of Clovis II, married him, and after his death ruled France as regent. **Abolished the Christian slave trade in Francia.**
