Eadflæd combines the Old English ead (wealth, blessedness) and flǣd (beauty). **Eadflæd (early 10th c.)** was the daughter of **King Edward the Elder of Wessex** and granddaughter of Alfred the Great. She was sent as a young nun to Wilton Abbey to live the religious life.
