Pourandokht (590-632) combines the Persian puran (alabaster) and dokht (daughter). **One of only two women to rule as Sasanian Shah** (Empress) of Persia — she took the throne in 630 after the chaos following her father Khosrow II's death. **She concluded peace with Byzantium and returned the True Cross to Jerusalem** before dying soon after, succeeded briefly by her sister Azarmidokht.
